Offered for sale is my Linn LP12 turntable with original Ekos tonearm and Afromosia plinth. I have been the sole owner of this turntable since 1989, having purchased it from a New York City dealer (Innovative Audio, still an authorized dealer).I had the Cirkus upgrade and the Hercules 2 power-supply upgrade installed by Innovative almost exactly 6 years ago in late 2008. Innovative's Linn technician also checked over all the other parts, replaced the 50hz motor, the belt, the mat and one or two other minor things. The 2008 upgrade allows me to play both 33 rpm and 45 rpm records. The entire unit is in beautiful shape and plays perfectly. The only very minor blemishes I can see are a couple of light graze marks on the clear lid, and two light scratches on the wood plinth which should be invisible if polished up. Nonetheless, I am rating it 7/10 for age and to be conservative. The Linn Serial Number is 075719, made in 1989 I believe, which was the year of my purchase. Of course the Cirkus board and Hercules 2 power supply are much newer, dating from 2008. I really don't use my turntable very much - 90% or more my listening is digital-based - so the usage is definitely very light. Also I have always taken very good care of this table. I would guess the table has seen perhaps 500-800 hours of use in the last six years since the upgrade which essentially replaced most of the parts subject to wear. Neither the Lyra Argo cartridge nor the Stillpoints footers you can see in the pictures are available for sale. I will be keeping these for my replacement turntable which will most likely be a VPI. I prefer the idea of having a locally made turntable, and this is the reason for the sale. I will agree only to local pick-up or delivery given the risks of shipping such delicate equipment. Let me know if you are outside my area and have shipping options in mind, but you would have to bear the costs and risks of shipping. I have all the receipts and paperwork from Innovative for the original purchase and the recent upgrades.
I have only one feedback report here on the Asylum but lots more on Audiogon where I have sold (and bought) lots of gear under my moniker "agriculturist", so please look over there.
