Offered for sale is my Linn LP12 turntable with original Ekos tonearm, Afromosia plinth, including the Lyra Argo cartridge in the pictures. I have been the sole owner of this turntable since 1989, having purchased it from a New York City dealer (Innovative Audio, still an authorized dealer). I had the Cirkus upgrade and the Hercules 2 power-supply upgrade installed by Innovative almost exactly 7 years ago in late 2008. Innovative's Linn technician also checked over all the other parts, replaced the 50hz motor, the belt, the mat and one or two other minor things. The 2008 upgrade allows me to play both 33 rpm and 45 rpm records. The Linn Serial Number is 075719, made in 1989 I believe, which was the year of my purchase. Of course the Cirkus board and Hercules 2 power supply are much newer, dating from 2008. I believe Linn continues to offer these upgrades for original Linn LP12 owners as a way to bring their tables up-to-date, so they remain current in their class of upgrades. The entire unit is in beautiful shape and plays perfectly. The only very minor blemishes I can see are a couple of light graze marks on the clear lid, and two light scratches on the wood plinth which should be invisible if polished up. Nonetheless, I am rating it 7/10 for age and to be conservative. I think it could quite reasonably be rated a notch higher. Actually since the photos were taken I bought a mat from Herbie's Audio lab which gave a very nice upgrade to the sound. I will include that with the turntable along with the original Linn felt mat. I really don't use my turntable very much - 95% or more my listening is digital-based - so the usage is definitely very light. Also I have always taken very good care of this table. I would guess the table has seen perhaps 600-1000 hours of use in the last seven years since the upgrade which essentially replaced most of the parts subject to wear. The Lyra Argo cartridge you see in the pictures has been used for perhaps 600-1000 hours too as I bought it new from Innovative Audio when I had the other updates put in. It is included in my asking price of $4,000. Please note that the Stillpoints footers you see in the pictures are not included in this sale.
