The Micro Seiki direct drive turntable is renowned because it has a terrific motor, a MDF plinth with real rosewood veneer, and the highly regarded MA-505 tonearm. This one is all of that, but has been upgraded. The tonearm with its VTA on the fly has had deep cryogenic treatment; the platter and tonearm housing have been painted with anti-resonant paint. There has been three different anti-resonant materials applied to the table housing, and anti-EMI, RFI materials added in the arm’s path. This is a terrific looking table, but it sounds even better than it looks! Many of the Chinese folks that sell the standalone 505 arm malign the one from the DD-40 that is BUNK. This arm has a heavy metal base that acts as a shield, not to mention that it accepts normal interconnects for hookup to your stereo. The female RCA connections have been cleaned and a silver contact enhancer has been applied- they are ready for action. The dustcover was not in great shape when I got the table, it has been sanded (the last sanding was with 2000 grit wet paper) and it has been buffed three times, it is a little hazy, but it is very presentable- new dustcovers are sold on Ebay if you want this to look perfect, but this will be fine for most vinyl spinners (that brown spot by the back of the arm is a burn mark, it was raised up- but the sanding and some plastic filler made it flat, it is the only "ugly" spot). The veneer has been treated and will look great for several years with no maintenance. The strobe works and the motor keeps perfect speed. There was no platter mat when I got the table; I have included a cork/rubber mat (which is an excellent performer).
