This Thorens TD-125 was a mess when it arrived, it had a cracked PC board and over 6 lbs of children’s play putty all over it! (see it here) The PC board was repaired and damped, it has been re-capped, it has a new solid oak plinth, and the armboard has real rosewood veneer with several coats of poly to protect it. The spike feet are solid rosewood and there are access holes on the bottom for the power cable and to get at the phono cable. I added a MDF bottom which is reinforced for extra strength, it has our anti-interference paint sprayed on it and the inside has aluminum tape for extra protection where the arm is… in case you have a component with a transformer below it. The platter mat is one of our modified cork/rubber mats that are really very good.
The deck has been damped, and the platter has damping as well. The bottom of the massive platter support deck has the underside sprayed with QuietKote for damping as well. The arm is the rare, graceful, and beautiful Grace G-840B. I got it without a headshell and purchased the upgraded headshell for it, both the arm and headshell have been cryo treated. The arm cable is a neat contraption, it has the Grace female DIN to plug into the arm tube and female RCA connectors on the other end so you can use upgraded interconnects of your choice, it also has a ground, this too was cryo treated. The rectangular control buttons were tarnished and scratched- they also have real rosewood veneer covers and several coats of varnish to protect them. The dustcover is the original one, it is now a sit on cover- but the original spring system is included if you ever want to mount it. The dustcover has been buffed and is not bad, but has some scuffs on it which are not very noticeable.
