For sale is a great sounding single ended KT88 amplifier by Don Allen. This was Don’s personal amplifier and was purchased by the previous owner directly from Don in 2014.This amp puts out about 10 watt of very clean and articulate single ended power and sounds quite good; big and effortless with great imaging and space. Don’s amps have a following and this is one of his best. I’ve used this amplifier with a variety of output tubes and have found it to sound best with new production KT120 tubes. This also runs KT88 or 6550 tubes, so there is a wide variety of choice here. The driver tubes are 6BZ8, a nicely affordable tube that allows a lot of trial for minimal investment. Sale includes one pair of Tung Sol KT120 and a pair of GE 6BZ8. This is a large amplifier and weighs about 42 pounds. This will ship double boxed and well protected to arrive safely. Because of the size and weight (20x20x12 and 46 pounds) this will need to go UPS or FedEx ground with carrier pickup. Local pickup in the Washington DC area is also available and encouraged.
