Up for sale, Eico HF81 stereo integrated tube amplifier from around 1962. Restored and retubed this year. I have owned and worked on 5 of these amps so I know them pretty well. Yes, they are as good as people say. Face, top, and knobs are clean and shiny. Original US transformers. Output transformers are great - sound is fantastic. Most parts and much of the circuit is original but has many new capacitors and resistors. Power switch moved to Tape switch at left - no longer need to adjust treble on every turn-on. Printed schematic supplied.
Sounds great, warm and full, and reasonably quiet for a vintage tube amp. 2 Aux line inputs + very good refurbished Phono section. - Assortment of good tubes, US and Euro. Original Mullard EZ81 rectifiers. All sockets cleaned. - 4 various, tested EL84 type tubes. Pairs matched by gm and current draw, not brand. - Hi-quality, mostly metal film resistors added. - Cardas eutectic silver-bearing solder used in signal path. - 4,8,16 ohm speaker terminals. - Original screw-type speaker terminals with 4 gold-plated banana adapters. - Resistor added in power supply, brought down a too-high B+. - 2 12AX7 phono tubes. - New, long 2-prong power cord. Voltages within spec. You will hear popping sounds when turning Input selector switch, typical for vintage components. Despite the new power supply parts, there is a little background buzz/hum from old parts, such as pots and resistors. You don't hear it from a few feet away.
Original paint finish has a few markings. Brass front plate pristine. Knobs vary in color but they appear to be all as factory-supplied. Chassis had a few rust spots that were covered over. I rebuilt this amplifier to keep but I have others as well. Buyer will receive 1 amplifier, w/ tubes, as shown. I've sold several components to very satisfied buyers here. Will be well-packed and ship by FedEx ground within US - best price for this weight. Will try to keep shipping cost to a minimum. No PayPal fee. Asking $775.
