Offering my beloved Tom Evans The Groove 20th Anniversary phono stage in amazing condition with a few cleaning marks. This model features a dual mono layout and dual 7.3 Lithos local regulators with a s/n ratio of 110db.
Resistance loading is adjustable by dip switches for 112, 126, 144, 168, 250, 333, 500 and 1000 ohms.
Capacitance for 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 pf.
Gain is set for cartridges from 0.2 mv to 0.6 mv. I've had the pleasure to directly compare this unit in my system side by side with some others: Zesto Andros mkii - The Zesto sounded amazing but did so by making everything sound like a halo surrounded each instrument. Overall, too much of it's own sonic signature. The low end could not compete with the resolution and "real" bass of the Tom Evans. Surprisingly more texture with the Groove as compared to the tubed Zesto! Herron Audio VTPH-2 - Quite similar in sound and texture but noisy when compared to the dead silent Tom Evans which won in dynamics. Did not have the loading options the Tom Evans provided. RCM Audio Sensor Prelude IC (not side by side) - I felt the sound was a bit hard and hot. Suffered texture loss and resolution as compared to the Tom Evans. Dynamics not in the same league as the Groove. EAR 834P (not side by side) - Excellent preamp but not in the same league in any category as compared to The Tom Evans.
