I am selling a pair of seriously sensational Innersound EROS Model 1 ESL speakers with bass amp/crossover. They are the finest sounding speakers I have owned or heard but my listening room is just too small for them, regrettably. It has been a difficult decision to let them go but I must do what I have to do.
These were designed by the renown ESL speaker expert Roger Sanders, who now runs Sanders Sound. These are not your typical tame, polite electrostatic speakers; they will seriously rock with great bass and high SPL's. I bought these from a friend and when he first played them, I was scared he was going to either blow my eardrums or the speakers, neither of which occurred. Crazy loud, very dynamic with the special mids and highs of great ESL's. I have owned many ESL's from Quads to Soundlabs, and also Beveridges; they are just not in the same league as these, not close.
They are in good condition with no real issues but they are pretty big and stout.
These have been upgraded with the $3,000 Ultrastat stator upgrade that increases the reliability of the panels. They also have been upgraded with new 10" woofers I believe which are Scanspeak.
The woofer section are transmission line design, which is a superior woofer loading design but expensive to manufacture. As part of the system is a bass amplifier/crossover component that works well and is connected to the speakers. Thus, your own amp will not power the woofers. You can use an electronic crossover with a separate amp for the woofers if you wish but I saw no reason to do this. The ESL's are just spectacular and the integration is stunning. I believe the current models and later evolution of these speakers is in the $14-17k price range and not sure if the ESL's are much different.
These work very well and are reliable speakers that can produce beautiful sound. paired with good electronics and front end will result in a devastating stereo system.
