Here we have a rare matched pair of the famous Tannoy 15" Dual Concentric Monitors from the early era with Red caps. The serial numbers on the frame are 028615 and 028671. This sale includes the correct matching x-overs.

I located these being stored in a basement. I arranged to audition them using some music with numerous high frequency effects. They sounded great! They were in locally constructed cabinets made of particle board that was nailed and glued together. All that was overlaid with mahogany panels and trim. They were over 200 lbs each. They were not like any Tannoy cabinets, so I felt they were not worth shipping.

It took 2 people to free the speakers from their prison, and I discovered it would also take 2 people to take pictures measuring the voice coil resistance. The probes were loose in the sockets, so I got some help holding the probes in place while I took the pics. The horns were 7.6 and 7.8 ohms. The woofers were 10.0 and 10.2. I moved the camera too quick on one of the woofer pics.

My friend knew someone who was a Tannoy fanatic. He recommended that these be advertised here on AudioAsylum. He suggested listing at $8000 and selling for less. These speakers are in beautiful condition. The labels are in amazing condition for being 60 years old.

I just noticed there is a small dent behind the label on one of the red caps. The label not scratched, so it may have been dented before the label was attached. If you look closely at my second picture you may notice one the unit on the right a slight "shadow" at the center-right of the label. That is the location. It is very hard to see, but it can be felt as a small flat spot on the curve of the cap. Maybe it could be worked out with a small wooden hammer from the inside of the cap, but that may risk damage to the label.

I added some bio info to my profile. I did not know there was only room for 6 pics. Let me know if you need more pics by email.

Thanks for looking. * * * Notice the reduced asking price * * *

Payment and Shipping
Pay By: Money Order/Certified Check
Ship Weight: 60 lbs.
Ships From: 68028 (Gretna, NE)
Ships To: WorldWide
Shippers/Payer: FedEx, Postal / Paid by: Buyer
Shipping Notes: This should easily ship as 2 30 lb packages. I pack very well and have successfully shipped to Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, etc.... One buyer in Korea had a trans-shipper in California, so that was the same as a domestic shipment for me. I have been on ebay for over 20 years, with perfect feedback (see jimg1! on ebay). I have not been selling much for the last 5 years, so you may have to go back to look at my feedback there. Serious buyers may ask questions. My shipping estimate to Japan is $650.
