New here but spent decades in the audio industry long ago and still an audiophile. While these are car head units, I don't see anyone who isn't a "tape head" knowing or caring what they are. These were the car version of the Nakamichi Dragon, complete with auto azimuth correction (NAAC). I bought them both new when I was a Nakamichi dealer. They went for the 2021 equivalent of $2000 each at the time and were the best cassette decks ever made for a car, period. They got about 5 years of use and have been in storage ever since. One is a Mk1 and one is a Mk2 (the differences are minor), and while both worked when pulled, after sitting all this time realistically it's entirely possible that you'll need both to make one good one (but will have duplicates of pretty much every part). The Mk2 comes with the orig box and manual but I don't remember the anti-theft code you have to enter to use it. The Mk1 has the code written on a piece of tape. (Wish i did that with both!) One has the bezel and 4 knobs (although one knob is not correct for the unit but seems to work); the other has neither. (See pic.) One has some rips in the sleeve of the umbilical cord that connects the indash with the external tuner module, but the actual wiring seems intact, only the protective sleeve is ripped. I have not tried to power up either. Actually I'd forgotten all about them until I saw an article about the death of the inventor of the cassette, and that led me to dig them out of the climate controlled closet where they've been sitting forever. I am guessing at value, and selling as-is, but will answer any questions to the best of my knowledge.
