Here is a beautiful and well functioning TEAC A-6300 auto reverse reel to reel tape deck. Included with this sale will be one TEAC metal take up reel in a TEAC box, two NAB hubs, a printed copy of the Owner's Manual, a printed copy of the Service Manual, and a copy of the Service Invoice from Sam Palermo,who serviced this deck nine and a half years ago. If you are intoR2R tape decks, and particularly TEAC, you should have heard of Sam. I feel safe in saying that Sam is one of the most respected and knowledgeable TEAC (and other makes as well) technicians in the country. When I purchased this deck I knew it was a real work horse and well known and respected model and decided I wanted it to function as it should. So – the deck went to Sam for inspection and subsequent work.
Both meter lights were replaced(even though only one was burned out), the capstan belt was replaced,the counter was cleaned and the belt cleaned and inspected. Capacitors in the power supply were replaced, the capstan bearing and motor was oiled. The take up reel table was positioned correctly and the right tension arm straightened. The record EQ circuit was modified to allow a better frequency response that resulted in 25Hzto 26K etc. etc. etc. There is more, but it will be provided to potential buyers.
When I got this deck back from Sam I was totally impressed! Since it's return to me I have recorded a total of eleven 10.5” reels of tape and no 7” reels. Over the course of nine and a half years since getting the deck back from Sam I would guess that I have put no more than 500 hours on the machine. My wife and I moved, we downsized as far as the size of our house,and I began selling much of my vintage stereo gear. I no longer need or want to have to move and handle large and heavy pieces of gear.
I recently cleaned the heads and tape path and also demagnatized the heads. I also oiled the capstan bearing and motor. Even though I have not used this deck on a daily basis I have always kept the heads and tape path clean. Everything on this deck functions including the auto reverse. Cosmetically this deck is in very nice shape. It has a few minor blemishes on the side panels but nothing that actually detracts from the overall appearance. Check out the pictures. This deck also has feet. I have seen this model for sale but without the feet.NOTE: This is a heavy tape deck and will be expensive to ship. Boxed weight will be over 50 pounds.. I am willing to drive 100 miles (one way) from Ludington, MI so the buyer does not have to pay shipping cost and worry about damage during shipping. If I have to ship it I will, but my preference would be to deliver it in person.
