VINTAGE 2A3 5930 VACUUM TUBES FOR SALEAll that remains from the original listing are Pair #1 and Pair #2. If interested in both together, I would take $500. This is a long listing with a lot of information, so please read it in its entirety. Please also see the full Terms and Conditions below. I have never used these tubes (and do not have an amp that uses 2A3), so I have no idea about sound. As a general rule, I am not a good one to ask as most tubes sound about the same to my old ears. Either I like tube or I don’t, but I don’t always know why (and it can change on a daily basis). I do not know the history of any of these tubes so, for the purposes of this listing, all them should be considered USED. Some come with what appear to be original boxes, although most of the original boxes are brittle and missing pieces. I tested these tubes on an Amplitrex AT-1000 connected to a regulated power supply. The tubes were tested in fixed bias mode, and the test conditions are Vp=250V and grid = -43.8V. The spec for “transconductance” (Gm) and “emission” (current draw) on the AT-1000 is 5.2 mA/V and 60.0 mA. I also tested these tubes on a Westmore 501 (government version of the Triplett 3444), also connected to a regulated power supply. According to the Westmore tube chart, Gm spec = 5200 and reject = 2600. While there is no Westmore spec for plate current, the settings on the Westmore indicate that the test parameters are 250 Vp and -40V grid bias. According to various data sheets, the Class A plate current spec at 250 Vp and -45 V grid bias is 60 mA. You can see below that the correlation between the Amplitrex and Westmore is remarkably good. I can provide additional information or pictures on request. Pair #1 - Miniwatt (Visseaux) $300 These tubes are branded Miniwatt but are Visseaux (French) made. They are black double connected plate with a single bottom foil/dimple getter element. The results on the Amplitrex are as follows: Tube #1-1 5.35 mA/V 62.4 mA
Tube #1-2 5.60 mA/V 61.2 mA The results on the Westmore are as follows: Tube #1-1 5400 68 mA

Pair #2 – 5930/2A3W (Industrial 2A3) $300 The 5930 is an unusual version of the 2A3 with a short bottle and a fat brown base. The glass is grey, there is chrome top (flashing), and internal construction is dual flat black plate. Tube #2-1 is a Sylvania branded and made JAN-CHS-5930 with a date code of 138 and what appears to be an original box. Tube #2-2 is National Electronics rebranded and Sylvania made. Please note that this tube has a very small chip out of the top of the base, but it in now way affects the stability of the base or the functionality of the tube. Because of the structure of the base and the fact that the Amplitrex has a set in 4-pin socket, I cannot readily test these on the Amplitrex. If your amp has set in 4-pin sockets, you will likely need some type of adapter to use these. Please keep this in mind when purchasing.
