A superbly analog-sounding DAC that competes very well with more recent units. I replaced a Primare CD31 with this Entec unit (the Entec was just as smooth and musical, but more dynamic, better midrange detail, and better detail in the treble without losing the smoothness and musicality. I had to move to an Audio Note 3.1 Signature to better it. I am so confident this will be superior to anything at this price, that if you you have good audiogon feedback I will refund your money if you listen for a week and don't like it. I have 100% feedback on Audiogon under montaldo. If you are in the St. Louis area you can hear it in your system before you buy.

This is a piece of history... Prototype #01 from Damien Martin's Entec. It's full history is on inside of the bottom plate. Designed by Damien Martin, built by Jerry Crosby (11.94), modified from revision 1.5 (11.94), to 1.6 (6.99), to 2.0 (9.00), to 3.0 (8.04) by Bob Crump of TG Audio. Signed by them all...

Apparently Bob Crump did only a handful of 3.0 Revision mods; I believe these mods retailed at approx $3k on top of the $5k cost of the stock unit. He designed and modified this DAC by voicing it against a Rockport TT & Linear Arm/Parnassus DCT to allow digital to be enjoyed as much as his analog. At least this is my understanding and apologies to Mr. Crump if I am off base in any way!

It has a Phase switch in front (up is Regular Phase, middle is Standby (off), down is 180' out of phase) - BNC in, RCA's out. I will include an RCA to BNC adapter if necessary.

The 3.0 rev includes: 2 power supplies: one analog, one digital; both High Isolation Ei Transformers and Schottky rectifier diodes along with Nichicon Muse Caps... into shunt regulators... REL Teflon Trim Caps... Resista Resistors throughout (same as Blowtorch/Vendetta)... TG Ac wiring into Switchcraft IEC (best ever), DC wiring is TG, output signal wire is Bear Labs (same as Blowtorch), about everything was replaced on the boards but the chip set. This unit is built like a battleship.

I am in a non-smoking household and take very good care of my equipment. This unit has no substantial cosmetic flaws. Very superficial scratches near the power switch, but the entire faceplate and box is in very nice condition. The build quality is really something. Built like a tank. I will double box carefully for shipping and will include a power cord if you like. Price does not include PayPal fees or shipping.

Thanks for looking.
