Soliloquy SAT5 loudspeakers - Rosewood finishBeautiful, incredibly well-made small speakers from Soliloquy, built in North Carolina. They are constructed from inch-thick high-density fiberboard, not the usual medium-density 3/4” board and weigh 18 pounds each. 12.25” H x 6.25” W x 7.25” deep and are a sealed enclosure so they work very well on a bookshelf, against a wall or on a desktop. 5.25” rigid polyfiber cone woofer with die-cast magnesium baskets and a 1.125" double-chamber tweeter. The tweeters on this pair were upgraded to the newer tweeter used in the SAT 5i with a noticeable improvement in sonics. I put the speakers in climate controlled storage in my basement ten years ago and they have only a few hundred hours of FM radio listening on the new tweeters. Rear panel includes heavy-duty 24-carat gold plated 5-way binding posts. Impedance is 8 ohms nominal, and sensitivity is 87db. A wide power handling range from 8 to 200 watts enable use with either low power tubes or high power solid state amps. Treble extension and soundstage are exceptional for a speaker of this size and price. I have rated them a 7 because of a few small dings but none are very noticeable from a few feet away. I have the unused grills and the original box. The box is a little worn from being moved around but the internal foam packaging is intact and the speakers will ship well. They are wonderful small speakers by themselves for vocal and jazz music and could be part of a very nice full-range system with the addition of a subwoofer. http://www.tnt-audio.com/casse/sat5_e.html
