Audiomats don't show up very often on the used market. The Phono 1's MC load resistance auto-adjusts and it offers 66dB of gain. I've used it with a Denon DL-103 Phono Cartridge that had an output voltage of 0.3mV with great results and no noise. The MM input impedance is the usual 47k ohms. The preamp has received great reviews. UHF, the Canadian review magazine, found the Phono 1 "actually better than the (tube) reference". That review is given below. Audiomat soon discontinued the Phono 1 and reissued it as the Phono 1.5, which is virtually the same circuit in a full width (but mostly empty) chassis for $2070. UHF Magazine subsequently began using the Phono 1.5 as their reference phono pre. You can find reviews of the Phono 1 here: http://www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/equipment/0401/audiomatphono1.htm http://www.soundstage.com/vinyl/vinyl200012.htm http://www.mutine.com/Bancs/Banc_Audiomat_Phono_1_UHF_56_En.pdf The reviews confirm its suitability for all kinds of music. The condition is rated at 8/10 simply for age. It's quiet and reliable, and has no cosmetic issues at all; it looks new (see pics). I bought the unit from Sounds of Silence in Nashua, NH, an authorized dealer. Please contact me if you have any questions. I've been an inmate in the Asylum since '01. 100% Audiogon and eBay feedback available. Please add 3% for PayPal. Local NYC-area pickup is fine.
