Appearance 8/10. Sterophile class A rated speakers. Used worldwide for studio monitoring. These are discontinued but are considered the best speakers B&W has ever produced. These are several levels higher performer than any of the current Nautilus or Matrix series (e.g., 801 and onwards). The Matrix-800s are very unique speakers. They produce very huge sound stage, deep and authoritative bass and recreates close to live performance. If you like live performance in your listening room these are the ticket at very low price. The Matrix-800 are often compared with Wilson MAXX 2 speakers. I have noticed that the Matrix-800 create bigger and more realistic soundstage than mighty MBL 101E. I like the music presentation of Matrix-800 little more than Wilson MAXX-2 or MBL 101E. For details please follow the link provided. Just to make sure you know all the facts: there are few extremely tiny spots at the back of the speakers which can be covered easily. One of the midrange assembly plate is very slightly bent. However, that does not affect proper assembly, appearance or the speaker performance. Once the whole speaker is assembled, you will not notice any of these defects and certainly not noticable from the listening position.
