Meridian 559 two channel power amp for sale, seldomly seen on the second hand market. Excellent condition, comes with original shipping carton, manual, power cord. Fully balanced from input to output, rated 300 watts into 8 ohm loads, 500 watts into 4 ohm loads, this amp drives low impedence loads with ease while retaining a very sweet, smooth musical sound. Dual mono design with dual 1.2 kVA transformers (amp weighs around 84 lb. unboxed). Soft start circuit allows amp to power up from standby in a silky smooth manner with no audible noise; once powered on, the amp runs DEAD silent with deep, black backgrounds. Amp has balanced inputs, dual brass binding posts for bi-amping, can be operated in bridged mono mode (1500 watts!) and also has an input trigger jack to allow auto-start by a G02 or similar preamp. One tiny nick on top of the case, near the back, couldn't be photographed, otherwise I can't find any flaws (I think the 8 rating is very conservative). The 559 received a very favorable review recently in Absolute Sound (TM), along with thje 502 pre and 588 CD player.
