Hi there.
I have a Bang & Olufsen TX2 linear-tracking turntable in the original box. It's in excellent condition, and it works fine. Even the dust cover is very nice. The cartridge in it, is shot. It will need a new one. The belt's there & it seems to move the platter up to speed quickly, but it could need a new one. The only way to find out is to play a record on it, which I can't do because of the cartridge.
Sound-smith makes the SMMC4 cartridge for $149.95. It's the most economical cartridge option for this turntable available.
Since the B&O tables take a proprietary cartridge, and I can't justify spending $150 on a cartridge for this one when I have 5 turntables already, I'm willing to trade it for something of equal value. Stuff I would swap for includes:
a) Jazz LPs that I don't have, in truly excellent condition. Doesn't matter if they're reissues, I'm not in it for collectibility. I'm in it for the music. Blue Note stuff is preferred, since I have a deficit of those in my collection. Even some Scorpios, if they don't suck. Or even CDs. Lemme know whatcha got. The main thing is CONDITION. I can't stand scratched or worn out LPs. I can clean them, but you can't clean a gouge.
b) A brand new, never used, Ortofon Stylus 20.
And if you have any other stuff you wanna trade, let me know. I'd also just take $100 for it, plus actual shipping costs.
I've now taken photos of the actual turntable I'm selling. You can click the smaller photos to enlarge.
If you look closely at that last one with the turntable in the box, you'll notice that the platter has been removed and is in the original styrofoam insert that immobilizes the platter and arm for shipping. I will pack the turntable properly in it's original box, AND an outer box with packing inside of that as well.
One more thing: I hate to do this, but I've been screwed over before by Audiogon sellers & even one Asylum member (I'm looking at you, "bighorseelover") so unless you're someone that I kind of know in the Asylum with a long history of goodwill toward others, or you're willing to send your stuff first, don't bother.
Anyway - drop me a line if you're interested.
Have a great day! Bobbo :-)
