The Phono 1's MC load resistance auto-adjusts between 10 and 100 ohms, and it offers 66dB of gain. I've used it with a Dynavector XX-2 that had an output voltage of 0.28mV with great results and no noise. The MM input impedance is the usual 47k ohms.Audiomat discontinued the Phono 1 and subsequently reissued it as the Phono 1.5, which is essentially the same circuit in a larger (mostly empty) chassis for $3K. FWIW, UHF uses the latter as their "reference." You can find reviews of the Phono 1 here, here and here. Those of you who know me know that I value the reproduction of the music's fundamental timing, rhythmic coherency and drive over audiogoober sound effects, and the Audiomat delivers the goods. I had to drop around 4X more dough on an Art Audio tube preamp to beat it. The condition is rated at 7/10 for age, and because I'm the second owner. It's quiet and reliable, and has no cosmetic issues worth mentioning (see pics). I bought the unit from a local acquaintance, and he picked it up directly from an Audiomat dealer (John Barker at Sonic Culture), so it has only been shipped once. I have the original double box and warranty info. AFAIK, no manual was originally provided. I can provide a copy of the dealer invoice, if required. Please contact me if you have any questions. I've been an inmate in this sanatorium since '01. 100% Audiogon and eBay feedback available. Please add 3% for PayPal. Local LA-area pickup is fine.
