The original VPI Aries 1 turntable. This is the extended Aries 1 that allows the use of a JMW 12 series or other 12" arms. In fact it is predrilled for a JMW 12 series arm. There is wide consensus that it is THIS version of the Aries line of VPI turntables that is the best, far outperforming the Aries 2 and for the unsuspecting, will respectably compete with VPI’s more expensive, TNT models. Michael Fremer had this to say when Stereophile gave it its high rating: â€You can save a great deal of money by buying the Aries instead of the VPI TNT [priced at $6000] and I bet you the sound is very, very close.†It will be securely packaged in the original boxes (2). Included are everything that came with the extended Aries 1 new: the manuals; plinth (predrilled for the JMW 12 series arms) that is ideal with its complete lack of suspension (requiring a careful selection of a platform, i have recommendations); the original and more sonically desirable black rubber, lead, and stainless steel platter; bearing assembly; record clamp; 115 V Aries motor with the correct original pulley; original belt plus a spare. All in near mint condition, the photos speak for themselves. Rating is only due to the age, but really is in superb condition.
