Nice example of a truly bullet-proof preamp. Some people love the 'baby SP-11' while others hate it, but few would argue that it wasn't a game-changer when introduced: an affordable, high-quality entry into the high end. It sat unused in my closet far too long - so now it's time for someone to put it to good use once again. A few years ago, the volume control developed some noise, so I packed it off to Audio Research, where the pot was replaced; the whole preamp was gone over at the same time, controls and sockets cleaned, etc., and returned to me in perfect operating condition.I'm selling the SP-9 with a pair of Golden Dragon 6DJ8 tubes supplied by Audio Research. Last year, I purchased a pair of NOS Mullard E188CCs (a European designation of the 7308, which is an uprated 6DJ8) to use in this preamp, but only installed them long enough to assure that they worked, so they're still not even broken in. If the new owner wants the Mullards, I will sell them along with the preamp for an additional $50 for the pair (I paid $80 on Audiogon). Please note that the photos show Herbie's Tube Dampers on the tubes; I will not be selling them, as they're now being used in my current preamp.
