For sale is a mechanically updated Eico HF-81 integrated tube amplifier. It has not undergone a cosmetic rehab, but functions quite nicely. The focus (balance) pot was taken out of the circuit, as it usually plays havoc with imaging. Likewise, the stereo/mono switch is disconnected. The first and second channel input rca's have been upgraded to gold plated. While the tape and mic channels are connected, they are noisy and likely best not used. Speaker output is still the original strip, with 4,8,16 and 32 ohm options. The circuit itself has had the electrolytics all replaced. The can capacitor is replaced with new individual axial capacitors. All cathode bypass caps are replaced. Recommended coupling capacitors are replaced with film capacitors as noted in the photos. Solder connections were inspected and reflowed as necessary with Cardas Quad Eutectic solder. Pots and switches were cleaned and sprayed with Deoxit. No intermittent or noisy pots and switches noted. The original on-off switch is still working on the treble pot. Power cord is replaced with a proper 3-prong 110v captive cord. A full complement of old stock tubes are included. 12ax7 (2 Telefunken, 1 GE, 1 RCA) with 81-93% of new transconductance values 12au7 (1 Telefunken, 1 Raytheon (RCA) ) Test 100%. EL84 3 Mullard GE Dirty plate tubes, 1 GE, Test 86-100% of new transconductance values. EZ81 rectifiers 2 Mullard that test 56-56 with 40 being minimal acceptable.
