Machina Dynamica’s new product, Hercules Speaker and Subwoofer Isolation System. Hercules is a Mass-on-spring system that isolates in both directions, thus reducing mechanical feedback from the speaker cabinets via the floor. Each speaker sits on two 24” hardwood maple planks with two or more springs under each plank. This “outrigger” arrangement where springs are located beyond the speaker footprint has high lateral stability, not be the case if springs were placed directly under the speakers since the center of gravity is usually too high. The small spring dimensions and the outrigger design of the isolating system greatly increases lateral stability. The 24” maple planks can be oriented laterally below the speakers or front to back. I have springs for moderate weight speakers and springs for heavy speakers over 80 lbs each. The mass-on-spring isolation system is very effective for speakers since the lowest frequencies of speaker cabinet vibrations are reduced by more than 98% - greatly lowering the noise floor for the audio system.
