Butler Audio TDB 2250 amplifier for sale. A move to a much smaller listening room has required me to reconstruct my system, and I've moved to an integrated amp (Ayon Audio Spirit II) and monitor speakers (GMA Callistos). If you've read the Six-Moons review of the Butler, you know that it is a hybrid design using a proprietary low voltage circuit that allows virtually unlimited life from the installed pair of 6SL7GC dual triodes. The tubes in conjunction with the solid-state Sanken output devices really do give the best of the tube and solid-state worlds. No muddy bass here! And no "sand" in the midrange or highs. Image was solid and well-defined with my Audio Valve Eklipse preamp (the Butler was in a $30,000 system). At 250 watts per channel (8 ohms; 400 at 4 ohms) and 60,000 microfarads of capacitance per channel, it has effortless power and drove my Green Mountain Audio Continuum 1.5i’s to produce gorgeous sound. Unlike regular tube amps and some solid state amps, it never runs hot, barely even warm to the touch. It was sent back to the factory a couple of years ago for the updated "bias mod" to improve bass performance. If I ever again need another high powered amp--and I've had several in the $3000-4000 range-- this is the only one I'd purchase a second time.

Condition is very, very good. Just a couple of tiny scratches on the side of the amp, where it appears the technician who removed the screws let the end of the screwdriver contact the metal (too insignificant to come out in a photograph). Nothing penetrated the finish.

The amp will ship with the manual and power cord. When I bought it, these amps were selling for $3200. Last year the price dropped to $3000. I am asking $1495 and I pay the shipping; a lesser price lets you pay the shipping. The weight is 43 lbs. unboxed. It will be well packed and shipped and insured through either Fed Ex or UPS (you're choice). Given the value, a signature will be required to receive delivery and you will need to provide a contact phone number for me to provide to the shipping company. Money order or Paypal (Paypal adds 3 percent to the final cost). You won't be disappointed. My feedback on various selling and auction sites is perfect. I can provide details/links to that feedback on request.
