I've been using the past month and it sounds great, size is the only reason it's for sale, not the way it plays for sure. It's big and pretty heavy.
Built by Lance in 2009 and updated in 2020. Repaint chassis and transformers, addition of a cutting board bottom cover, upgraded the filament and power supply wiring, set bias and all voltages, full check out, replacement of parts as needed. Lance also changed the input (first tube) from a 6CG7 to a 12AU7 (nice if you tube roll).
Loaded up with a quad of Gold Lion (Russia) KT-88, an early '60s Westinghouse 12AU7 black plate, two mil.spec green label GE 6CG7 and a 1958 Tung-Sol 5U4GB rectifier. Included are three extra GE 6CG7 and one Westinghouse 12AU7 grey plate.
Lance estimates about 40 watts/ch, he designs for less power, better sound. Works for me, I have another one of his KT-88 based amps I'm hanging onto. You can also run EL-34 outputs and a 5AR4/GZ-34 rectifier if desired.
At this time it's available for pickup only in San Diego, set up for you to check out. Cash accepted (preferred). Please ask any questions and thanks for looking.
