Restored Magnavox 8802 tube amp. Pulled from a console, and completely restored. First all unnecessary wiring was removed. Chassis was completely polished. All caps were removed, and replaced with new high quality audio grade 716p orange drops. Multi cap was removed and replaced with a n.o.s.
cap that test excellent. Power switch was added, along with high quality W.B.T. Style multi way insulated binding post. High quality Neutrik R.C.A. Jacks were added, and the hideous looking old R.C.A. Jacks were removed. All out of spec resistors were replaced. An I.E.C. Power receptacle was added. All of the new parts were wired with Mil Spec 16 gauge Silver plated copper with Teflon insulation, and soldered with Cardas Quad Electric solder.
Now all is on the rear panel, gives a much cleaner look to the amp, and functionality is increased. You can use modern oversize cables with no problem.
Uses four 6v6 tubes along with two 6eu7, and one 6ca4. About 10 w.p.c. All original Magnavox tubes, test and sound excellent!!
Sound quality is amazing! Functions 100% perfectly, with no audible hum.
Also built a custom two toned wood cabinet. Poplar with red oak veneered trim, looks great in my opinion.
