Working just fine with some historical issues. Fantastic sound, great dac, true balanced design. Read below for full update on past issues and the cure. History:
I had some transport problems and then the transport would not play cds. Sent it in to UltraViolet Audio and paid to have the Sony transport replaced. Worked for a few weeks then would not index CDs. Conversations with them were futile. SO, it has been sitting on a nice shelf for the last few years waiting for me to take it apart and try to repair it. I am not up to the challenge. The sound of this unit is very good, and there have been no issues with the dac section. Unfortunately, there is not a dac input or I would be using it as a dac. Buyer must pay freight and insurance It is over 40 pounds. Pics coming soon 6-29 Update: After 4 disks played perfectly this weekend, it would not read the Table of Contents on the next Disk and gave a no disk error. BUT, thanks to the net, a well known cure is to lightly lubricate the rails of the transport. It seems this Sony transport (used on their SCD1 and 777 players)is notorious for having the lubrication dry up over time. Lubed it today and it read the disk just fine and is playing through. The player sounds great. Now I just have to ensure that is the fix. 7-6 Update- All CDs have been playing fine except for one. A few taps on the sensor button in the cd well and it read the table of contents and played fine. At this point I am really enjoying it in my office system. The sound is so good. But I must sell the unit. Asking price is $1200 knowing that it did have a problem that at least for know seems sorted. I will entertain offers and have to stick to the buyer paying shipping and insurance and delivery signature fees. I'll eat Paypal fees. Still Playing Fine -7-8-2010
