For sale is a 1988 Philips CD 680 in working order that I purchased new in 1989. The unit has spent about 12 years of its life in its box. I think this unit has the same guts from the similar Marantz of its time. The faceplate is flawless and the rest of the unit is excellent shape cosmetically with the following exceptions: 1)There are some rubber foot markings on the top of the unit from a pre-amp that was stacked on top. You have to look at an angle to see them. 2) There are two tiny nicks on the rear of the unit above the inputs which can be seen in the photo.Mechanically, there is only one issue with the Philips. Occasionally it will refuse to play. Sometimes this happens when loading a new disk and sometimes it happens in the middle of a disk. Cycling the power switch solves the problem. I could play several disks with no issues, then it would happen. Then no problem again for a while. I do not know the cause. I removed it from storage this past October and I used it until last week when I bought a replacement for it. When playing, it shows no other issues, either mechanical or audible. The sale also includes the original box, instruction book, remote(no batteries) and the power cord. There are no interconnects included. The original box will be placed in another box for shipping and insurance. Shipping in the CONUS should be about $20 via USPS Priority Mail Insured and will be paid by the buyer. I will check exact shipping to your zip code if you want to know before offering to buy. Asking $20 plus shipping. I am a new member of the asylum, but the moniker I use here "rockethead26" is the same one I use on eBay (100% positive) and the classifieds for an astronomy site called Cloudy Nights where I have 5-Star ratings. I have sold rather expensive photographic and astronomy equipment with never an issue. I always offer a money back guarantee if the item is not as described. I will only ship to addresses in the US, and ship within two business days. I prefer PayPal, but I will take money orders and certified checks. I can also process your credit card directly. Email me with any questions.
