This sexy little beast is the new successor to the very popular (and well reviewed!) Miniwatt N3, also known as the PA0901A. You can find plenty of reviews of that one (look at CNET, 6Moons, Ken Rockwell, and lots of others) but the general consensus is that it's a king of budget audiophile tube amps. This one, the PA1501A, is even better. I have both, and this one has better extension in the treble with more detail. (The only reason I'm not selling the other instead is that I have tons of extra EL84 tubes for it from my guitar days.) The PA1501A uses 6AD10 tubes which can be had for $20/pair if you want to experiment with different brands. I know NOS Mullard, Tung-Sol, and Amperex can be hunted down without too much trouble. At 3.5 watts of class A loveliness per channel, this is great for efficient speakers -- I've used these amps with Fostex, Zu, Klipsch, and others. Would go great with old Altec or JBL. Have something that's 85db sensitive or less? Those will work great too in smaller rooms. In terms of condition, this unit is barely broken in -- I'd say about 25 hours or so on the USA made tubes (RCA?). The price on these has come down a lot since I bought mine and Amazon is selling them for $180 at the moment ... which means I'll let mine go for $150. Comes with original box and sturdy packing material. You don't need to spend crazy money on McIntosh, or vintage Dynaco, Fisher, etc to get great classic tube sound! Thanks!
