I am selling this just rebuilt classic integrated tube amp from 1960s with HUGE OUTPUT TRANSFORMERS!!!!!!!! Scott tube amps are renowned for their excellent sound quality. A large part of it has to do with their transformers some or the largest in its class.

This unit has been upgraded with a film cap power supply and a choke to make it dead quiet on my Altec 19 ultra sensitive horn speakers. The amp has been thoroughly cleaned and tested for many hours. Sound quality is excellent with really good bass. UPGRADES!!!! Not the usual rebuild

1. CLC power supply with 500 volt DC link film capacitors and Hammond choke. Expensive Panasonic DC link caps of 2x 20 and 2x50 microfarad, last a lifetime and sound better than the stock el cheapo electrolytic caps. The choke is a very capable 165 ohm x 6 henry, heavy duty shielded unit. These components make the power supply extremely quiet with no noise coming from the high efficiency horn speakers.

2. New Orange Drop Sprague signal capacitors. The orange drop is an audiophile favorite and really makes the sound sharper and more dynamic.

3. Upgraded grounds. A solid 12 awg copper ground bus was installed for the power supply which replaced some of the 22 awg wire. This is also part of the reason the amp is so quiet.

4. All tubes tested and power tubes matched.

5. Voltages checked and fall within 5% of recommended values. 4 matched EL84M power tubes, 2 6U8A , 4 12AX7, 1 5V4GA.

6. Bias circuit rebuilt with new Schottky diodes and metal film resistors for ultra quiet performance. The bias circuit also supplies the heater voltage to the preamp tubes and rebuilding this circuit is important for sound quality.

7.Check out the picture of the wiring and layout as well as the new caps and resistors installed. Wiring was improved with better layout and tighter heater wiring twists.

Fine Tuning. From listening tests i decided to change out the 4 0.1uf preamp coupling caps and 4 tone control caps with Russian PIO K40y9 and 2 RIAA caps with the same type.

The sound from one of my amps is very good. Here is a testimonial from a buyer of a 6l6 SE RH amp.

T4L, from California, wrote; Well seasoned and broken in 6L6GB output tubes, 5AR4 rectifier, 6SL7GT with Cornwall speakers sound real nice. Listening to CSNY 4 Way Street, an album I've been listening to for years, using the Mac Mini playing iTunes. The detail is amazing. I just realized that there are some type of wooden percussion instrument on the song "Southern Man." All the times I've listened to the song, I never heard this detail. "Find the Cost of Freedom" caused chills on the back of my neck. I can hear the singers taking breaths between the lyrics. It startled me several times and I know the songs, have listened to the album at least 100 times. Now listening to "Street Life" by The Crusaders. Female vocals sound great, the bass is slamming, drums sound great, percussion is beautiful, horns/wind instruments are bright, soundstage sounds like a live performance. There's no noise between tracks, the tambourine sounds clear and detailed, I'm listening to music!

Rudy from Texas wrote back; "did the quickest setup for me. am listening to youtube videos on roku. optical out from TV to teradak NOS dac to audionote one pre-amp to your amp. old audioquest emerald interconnects. clear day speaker wires (thin guage solid wire (silver, I think) to 1970's klipsch heritage speakers ( I have had for more than 10 years, don't think they have ever been opened) the sound is amazing! the amp and speakers disappear. getting the same feeling I had when first listened to audionote meishu. I know my audio memory is fleeting but difficult to say what difference there is between these tubes and 300B. have heard push pull el 34 amps before but this is way different, and way better. acoustic piano and bass sound exceptional"

Please inspect the provided pictures to ascertain the physical condition of the amp. As you can see there are certainly blemishes, bumps and bruises, thus showing the amps age. But, not really horrible. A big plus for scott amps is that the metal work is aluminum which does not rust. Also one of the knobs is not original. Remember that this amp is sold strictly as is, after all, some of the parts were made during the 1960s. Vintage tube amps , and tube amps in general, require a bit more care and attention, than some Best Buy blunder, which you simply play and throw away when it dies. Tubes need to be replaced after about 3000 hours of use and caution is required as tubes are hot. But the major take away is that all the parts that make up the amp is available and can be replaced. This is the one of the nice things about vintage tube equipment is that it is not very hard to repair them. Although this amp is built to extremely high standards and with the utmost of care it is sold strictly as is. That being said , i stand by the quality of the work i put into the rebuild and i certainly will do my best to rectify any problems that you encounter. Thank you very much for reading my ad.
