The VAC Avatar Super utilizes the VAC Renaissance style triode input circuitry in the preamp section and features the Beam Power sentry circuitry to protect the output tubes. Taps are provided for 2, 4 and 8 ohms and a cinema input allows direct control of the power amp section for integration into a surround sound system. The VAC Avatar Super is an 80w into 8ohms tube integrated with a quad of KT88's. This is one of only 20 made with an aluminum chassis at the very end of the final production run in 2005. (VAC said that the back plate alone cost more than an entire steel chassis Avatar Super which sold for $6500.00.) Cosmetically, the front panel has been completely restored with NOS stock knobs from VAC inventory and a new powder coat silver finish with new black stenciling and gold trim. The chassis is in "as new condition" except that one screw hole in the back of the top plate (the second screw from the back-right) is stripped and the screw won't catch. I will put the screw for this hole in an envelope for shipping. The remote body/shell is intact and unmarked with new remote internals. Electronically, the transistors and coupling capacitors were replaced with current upgraded production ones. The transformer was replaced with a VAC current production $525.00 transformer making this Super extremely quiet, music comes out of a black background and it is riveting. All signal tubes were replaced and have about 500 hours on them. An entire set of new signal tubes is included and will be sent in a separate tube box along with the current 'in use' tubes. The KT88 tubes are new with approximately 200 hours on them. The 88's are VAC's best, the ones with the 'SC' designation. This will FedEx ship only in the USA. If using PayPal add 3.5% to the purchase price including shipping and insurance. Add $25.00 shipping and insurance for the second shipping box containing the tubes. Thanks for looking.
