One of the finest moving magnet cartridges available in its stock form. With the Soundsmith upgrade it is even better.The original price posted includes the current price of $995 (which I rounded to $1000), plus the cost of the Soundsmith upgrade. I used the cartridge stock for about 200 hours before I bent the cantilever and sent it to Soundsmith. I picked the $250 upgrade because I wanted the fineline stylus and the ruby cantilever, but not the set up criticality of their top combination. When repaired, I put about 200 more hours on it before being captured by a van den Hul MC 10 moving coil. In my current phono system, this cartridge now has more gain than the system will handle easily and I now have several moving coils. Putting the Virtuoso into my phono system requires some re-jiggering of the phono system, so I don't use the Virtuoso any more. This is too good a cartridge to just sit in a box.
