Allied 395 (same as Pioneer SX-1000TW) rebuilt with best modern components available. The power supply and all amplifier boards have new capacitors. The power supply main filter capacitors are upgraded from two 1000uF to two 2200uF Nichicon 'Super Through' series. The speaker output coupling capacitors are ELNA Silmic II audio grade. All amplifier circuit boards have new capacitors with ELNA Silmic II audio grade capacitors in the audio coupling circuits.

The power supply uses State of the Art CIS Cree Schottky diodes in the sub power supply and in the main HV power supply. This reduces switching noise to zero and that improves the audio sound with higher resolution and clarity plus produces tighter bass. New high-end $4000 amplifiers use these diodes. I doubt any rebuilt receiver offered on ebay uses these expensive rectifiers as they cost $34 plus use heat sinks for maximum cooling.

So, what is refurbished as many state? Refurbished is not rebuilt. Many 'refurbished' receivers have new LED lights and some had the volume, tone and balanced controls cleaned. A few state some capacitors replaced when there are about 60 to 80 capacitors that can fail. All amplifier circuit board capacitors need replacement such as this Allied 395 receiver. If all electrolytic capacitors are not replaced with only a few replaced, the receiver will fail.

The receiver produces a minimum of 50 watts per channel into 8 ohms for a mid-power receiver. Receiver can use 6 or 4 ohm speakers. Frankly, with the average speakers of 87dB sensitive, you do not want less than 50 watts output per channel. Low wattage amplifiers can clip on bass note causing distortion and bloated bass.

The FM tuner has four gains (many are only three gain) and is a very sensitive long distance reception receiver. The dial has ultra bright LED lights. The receiver is a full discrete design- no poor sounding op-amps like in most vintage receivers. Full discrete design has superior sound and is more expensive to manufacture.

Cosmetically this receiver is about perfect. All controls are feel solid with no static. No DeOxit needed. Original dial lights are crystal clear indicating less than 2000 hours use. (Dial lights glass darken starting at 2000 hours). This receiver being rebuilt will function for at least 50 years before capacitor replacement may be required for proper functionality.

With every component being the best grade available, this receiver produces excellent sound with a large sound-stage and crystal clear audio with out distortion.
