This is a rare pair of Opera Callas SP floorstanding loudspeakers, made in Italy and in gorgeous Sapele finish. These little overachievers came to me in a trade and I used them for several months until one of the original Peerless woofers gave up. I replaced both drivers with Tang Bang W4-1849 full range drivers. The speakers sound even better than they did before, and the Tang Bang drivers are making a nice improvement in sound quality. When you walk into the room with these speakers playing, you expect to see much larger speakers. They impress with large scale lifelike sound that is extremely refined and resolving of complex music effortlessly, especially when used with the most resolving audio equipment. These Opera speakers have the 27mm MuRata silk dome tweeter, widely known as a great tweeter. The remaining 4.5” drivers you see in the middle of the array are original to the speakers and are a special build Peerless driver, made especially for Opera by Peerless in small batches, specifically for this speaker. A serious speaker one could mistake for just average pretty easily because of their size, and price here, but they play bigger than many larger floorstanders that have come through over the years and sound classy doing it. Overall, this pair of Callas Sp are a high quality build using the best materials, top quality binding posts, leather wrapped front baffle, and boutique level devices in the crossover networks also play a role in the great sound. SP stands for Super Pavarotti and this is a scaled down version of Operas famous Super Pavarotti cabinet design. Amazing design, incredible sound . Local pickup with cash in Knoxville TN preferred.
