As new Wharfedale Pacific Evo 2-20 Floor Speakers finished in real light maple veneer. Rate them as an 8.5 on AudioGon scale to over deliver. These are exceedingly beautiful and nicely detailed speakers with a high WAF that set the standard for the 2-way floor speakers in their market segment. Highly reviewed and well received in the industry. Original retail list price on these was $1200/pr. These are as new with about 200 hour’s total listening time since the home theatre they were purchased for was not fully utilized by the kids. A very good deal for a barely used solidly designed Bi-wirable 2-way floor standing speaker. The Evo 2-20 excels as a 2-way, and is still an excellent example of the British take on speaker design and function. Mildly laid back, I received good frequency response and spatial imaging with the right cables. In experimenting as a secondary 2 channel system, I especially liked these in combination with a Jolida Tube set-up and Speltz Anti-Cables. Most of the upgrades for the Evolution 2 series have been made internally, through the use of advance production techniques, better quality of materials and components. But it is the attention to detail that makes this series of speaker so desirable. The Drivers and tweeter have been re-engineered to become much more responsive and dynamic. A die-cast low-profile chassis is now used on all the drivers making them more rigid and reducing mid-range distortion. A new tweeter utilizing a high-temperature aluminum voice coil, thermally coupled to an integrated heat-sink, increases the high frequency response beyond 30kHz with superb control and class leading clarity and detail.
