For sale 1 pair Von Schweikert Audio VR-1 monitor speakers in Maple. Purchased new from a shop in Richmond, VA in 2006. No major scratches, or dings, but the satin poly finish isn't quite as lustrous as new. This little speaker is well reviewed, and set a significant precedent for the $1k monitor category, when VSA introduced the VR-1. I happily drove these monitors with about 35 tube watts, which seemed to match well with their claimed 89db efficiency. Original grills, boxes, and packaging are included.I've made a few modifications to the speakers including: -Crossover capacitors upgraded to Sonicap Gen.1's, including the addition of Sonicap bypass caps.
-Crossover resistors upgraded to Mills.
-NoRez cabinet damping used throughout.
-VHAudio silver in teflon wiring to tweeter.
-VHAudio 14ga copper in teflon wiring to woofer. Overall, the crossover upgrades afford much greater transparency and detail than the stock crossover. The extra cost for these parts (roughly $175) is reflected in my slightly-higher-than-average asking price. Fortunately, for my asking price, I don't think you're going to find a more coherent monitor, unless you DIY. Asking price does not include shipping - I'll leave the choice of shipping to the buyer.
