For your consideration are an extremely rare brand new NOS Infinity/Strathearn Ribbon drivers as used in the fabled Infinity QRS Speakers system.Many of you Audiogon members remember the fabled Magnepan/Infinity QRS1D system of Harry Pearson of the Absolute Sound which was destroyed in a fire in Sea Cliff. These are the identical ribbon drivers. What you see in the picture are the panels as used in my QRS Speaker system so you can see how they look. The ones I am selling are in the box and new. The impedance of this driver midrange is only 0.55 Ohms However, Arnie Nudell of Infinity realized that if you took 3 raw drivers and put them in series you could get a 1.65 Ohm load and that a good high current amplifier could actually drive this load directly without the need for an impedance matching transformer. The response is excellent from 200 hz to 16000 hz and ideal if you use them as midrange drivers. An array of EMIT tweeters or better yet a Magnepan ribbon tweeter added to this array would be awesome. Add a pair of subs or Magnepan bass drivers and it would be hard to surpass the performance of such a speaker system. I bought from Infinity the last NOS panels with the intention to build a dream speaker system that has never materialized. I am unable to pursue this dream now. They have been kept inside my house in a climate controlled environment and they are mint. However I still have my beloved Infinity QRS speakers which I will never ever sell. The panels are new in their respective boxes. There are a total of 6 brand new panels. I am selling them for $2000.00 for the entire set of six which will make a complete and phenomenal sounding set of speakers. Similar to the Carver and Bohlender Graebner. For information purposes: the diaphram area of each driver is equivalent to 3 normal size EMIMs so you can see how wonderful a midrange area will it give the listener. No shipping on these!! The drivers must be picked up in person and I live in Tampa, Florida since they can get seriously damaged if they are shipped. I could drive and meet the person within 50 or so miles from where I live. The picture shown is how one of the panels look as they are used in my QRS speaker system.
