As you may know, the Spectra 66's almost never come up for sale and are very rare, and supposedly less than 100 were made by Acoustat in the early 90's. These use upgraded premium caps and components, and a rigid composite wood frame. The black socks are in very good shape, as are the bases and the electronics. These speakers sound amazing, the epitome of the Acoustat "speaker art," and being such large electrostatics, they cover the audio spectrum exceedingly well. they truly cover the entire audio range with virtually no distortion and incredible sound-stage imaging.
The bottom picture shows the Sector frequency assignments and the wiring color codes. Notice the full range sector is on the left side of the right speaker and the full range sector is on the right side of the left speaker. It is imperative you position these correctly for proper imaging.
The dimensions of the Spectra 66 are: 7'10" tall; 29.5" wide; 3 1/2" deep. The wood bases measure 34.5" wide x 17" deep x 3/4 " high.
$500 was spent on the MK-2146 interfaces which were modified and upgraded by an Acoustat specialist in Ohio with great results. Previous Acoustat 6 or 8 panel speakers needed 4 channels of amplification since they use two interfaces per speaker. The Spectra 66 use only one interface per speaker so they only requires 2 channels of amplification. Much more cost effective.
The Acoustats, as you can imagine, are especially awkward to ship, and I would rather have you pick them up in person. Thank you.
