For sale is my perfect pair of Martin Logan Motion 35XT stand-mount speakers, or monitors if you wish. Deep, gorgeous Piano Blak Lacquer covers the musical beauty within. These operate at 4ohms, with a sensitivity of 92dB. In other words, these are very, very easy to drive. I've used an 8wpc 300b based S.E.T., a 15wpc EL-84 based Push-Pull, and a 25wpc solid-state Marantz HD-AMP1 all with tremendous success. The FR of 50Hz to 25kHz almost seems deceptive, as they go down pretty low. I never felt compelled to use a sub with them - but I don't do movies, hip-hop, or electronica. But pluck and resonance of an acoustic double bass is deep and detailed, giving all the strings' reverberation and nice decay. Bass drums hit with authority, snares snap crisply and cymbals just shine. Acoustic jazz is a marvel with these, as is vocal jazz, fusion, classical symphonic and especially baroque chamber music. With the Folded Motion Transducer (ribbon tweeter) every detail, every breath, and every tinkle of ice in a glass when Bill Evans played the Vanguard came through with aplomb. Now, do note that these are not the Motion 35XTi version. I did pay full price for them just a smidge before the XTi's came out. In speaking with the dealer a while later on I was assured that there was no reason to upgrade as the differences between the two were less than negligible. These are some of the finest monitors I've heard, and as they say - I've heard a lot of 'em! Being a former high-end dealer, well before these were introduced I had the pleasure of playing a variety of monitors ranging from PSB to Proac and a nice variety in between. None of the others gave up anything to these, but as I say, at this level it's all good, just different. Offered at a very reasonable price due to the damn divorce I'm right in the middle of, these will make someone a beautifully musical speaker for years and years to come. And my situation also allows me to accept reasonable offers. I need to trim down before I have to move - and I don't know what I'm moving into yet! My usage of them was minimal, as I normally played my floor standers, so I've got I'd say in the vicinity of 120 - 130 hours one them.
