I'm the original owner of this pair of speakers. I bought them in mid-2000 (corroboration here at this old AA post by me if you need it).Condition
I've included pictures of all four sides and tops of each speaker. AA lets me post only six photos, so please look at my US AudioMart ad for photos of the only two defects: a small dent on the front edge of one speaker, and a small scratch on the side of the same speaker. (To get those last two worst-case shots, I laid the speaker on its side near a window and shot from the position that yielded the brightest reflection from the dent/scratch. I also included more typical view of the dent.) As a test, look very carefully at the photo of the sides where the the backs face each other and see if you can spot the dent and scratch. Look up about four inches from the bottom of the left cabinet and draw an imaginary line from the front to the back. You'll notice that I have no photos with the grills removed. That's because they fit so tightly I'm afraid to remove them for fear of damaging either the cloth or the veneer. I've seen the speakers "naked" only once. When I bought them there was a small tag on a thread that ran behind a corner of each grill, and that let me pull those corners out and then free up the rest of the grills. Once I reinstalled them (without the thread), I've never removed them again. Shipping
The buyer is responsible for shipping, but I will work with you to minimize costs. UPS shipping is most convenient for me, but FedEx is also fine. I do have the original boxes, but I will double-box. Each box is about 25"x16"x15". I bought U-Haul "dish barrel boxes" (28"x18"x18") to hold them and plan to pad the space between with foam board from Lowe's or Home Depot, bubble wrap, or other foam. I will cover the costs of this packing material. Shipping weight should be around 50 lbs. per box. Depending on your location, shipping for the pair should be somewhere in the $75-150 range. Reviews
If you're reading this ad, you probably already know all about the 2/3s, but here are some online reviews. Enjoy the Music Review High Fidelity Review About Speaker Stands
Two guys from other auction sites have contacted me about speaker stands for these Spendors. The stands partially shown in some of my photos are not part of this ad; I sold them separately a few weeks ago. They were Sound Anchors stands marketed as having been custom-made for the 2/3s, but I never understood why. They were 18" tall with an 8"'x8" top plate, which does not match the 10.75"x12.75" base of the speakers in any way. Obviously, I don't want stands to be an obstacle to selling these speakers. The problem with stands is that most of them are so darn expensive. (For example, those Sound Anchor stands cost $250/pair in 2000.) I've looked around, and I think Sanus SF22B ($120/pair at amazon.com or $104/pair at walmart.com, and shipping should be free) might be a suitable stand for a reasonable price. Note that I have not seen or used this stand. I just think it's one prospective buyers may want to research. An alternative for those of you with DIY skills (or friends with such skills) is DIY stands. For example, Google "TNT Stubby Stands", and you'll see a pretty simple stand using a PVC center post (held in place with a threaded rod and counter-bored nuts on the base and top plate) that you could fill with sand, shot, gravel, or even something like Quickrete. Even considering the spikes you'd need to purchase, I think those stands would be very cost-effective. For the 2/3's I'd use two posts, stacked front-to-back, for the 2/3s. Spendor 2/3 vs 2/3E
A sharp-eyed member at a different auction site noticed that the back plate of my Spendors just says "2/3", while my ad says '2/3E". Here's the explanation... The 2/3E is an "enhanced" revision, introduced in 1994, of the original 2/3. The enhancements included a beveled front edge, OFC internal wiring, and other changes. (See the AA post with an explanation from Spendor) The "E" designation didn't appear on the speakers, boxes, or manual, but I think any 2/3 produced after 1994, until the newer "R" versions with different drivers that were introduced more recently, is an "E". In any case, you can clearly see the beveled front edge in my photos, so they're definite the "E" revision. About Me
I've been here at AA for years, but have never sold anything here and therefore have no feedback history yet. I used to sell items on eBay, but I haven't done that in years. My user ID there is "lsutigerfans", and I have a 100% positive feedback rating (over 61 transactions). Most of my transactions were for small items (books, CDs, etc.), but I did sell several components, including a Rega Planet, Sony ST-S730ES tuner, Legacy Audio Classic speakers, Pioneer SA-9100 integrated amp, McCormack Micro amp and preamp, and others that I can't recall. My eBay Feedback I'm not overly active on web forums, but I do have a presence at Audio Circle
