This ingenious design of Germany's Michael Stoltz is a lesser known high-end niche product than some other tonearms, but it has garnered outstanding reviews. Its engineering, like that of the Schroeder and Triangle Arts tonearms, is based on the principle of using magnets rather than traditional bearings to virtually eliminate any friction in tonearm travel. The tonearm tube "hangs" from the top of two magnetic bearings. The downward pull of the bottom bearing counters the upward suspension pull of the top and stabilizes the arm tube azimuth. Top and lower screws adjust the distance between the bearings to balance the pulls, and when turned in unison, are also used to adjust vertical tracking angle of the tonearm. The VTA can also be adjusted via raising or lowering the flanges mounted on the massive stem that fits into the turntable's mounting board. Those flanges can be rotated to adjust pivot-to-stylus distance. This arm is the 12" version with a beautiful cocobolo wood arm tube. Its look and performance are stunning. This is a later version of the Conductor arm with supplementary counterweights and rod for easier fine-tuning of vertical tracking force adjustment. The arm is beautifully machined out of brass and stainless steel. There are counterweights of different sizes to accommodate any cartridge weight imaginable. The Musical Life Conductor (especially this later version) is a rare high-end product. It is in immaculate condition, and has been wired with Cardas wiring into an RCA plug junction box. The Goldring G1042 cartridge shown in the photos is not included in the asking price, but can be included for an additional $100. It was purchased as a store demo, and has fewer than 150 hours.
