For sale are 2 sleeves each of 5 6005's by GE JAN military versions of 6AQ5, each sleeve priced at $45 ($9 apiece) and a set of 4 black plates by JHS Sylvania, also military versions at $40 ($10 apiece). What some people do not realize is that 6aq5/6005 is identical electronically and much superior sonically to 6V6. Most likely any 6V6. (Look up Joe Rosen's comments). I compared it to a few RCA 6V6's I had, and it was no contest (Cleaner, lower and higher). All you need is a 8-pin to 7-pin adapter plentiful on Ebay (or you can make it yourself using an 8 pin base and a 7 pin socket), and you'll have the best 6V6 imaginable for a fraction of the price. I tested all of them on a borrowed Heathkit tester, not the best tester, but they all tested around 70, and the JAN's tested as good as the JHS's.
