I have a few quads of Svetlana Electron Devices (SED) EL34 tubes from the original St. Petersburg plant that I bought from a major tube vendor in 2002. Triple Platinum Tested and Matched. Guaranteed. They are not branded (no print on glass), but I guarantee they are the original, highly desired, pre-2002, EL34 by SED from St. Petersburg plant, and guarantee perfectly matched in Gm on Hickok TV-10, dynamic emissions on Eico666 and current and Gm on a Maximatcher. They sound delicious in my CJ Classic 60 tube amp. I bought one quad back in 2001, and based on what I heard and how they tested, I bought three more quads. Available are one or more NEW, current-matched quads of great sounding, long-lived SED, pre-2002 EL34 tubes made in St. Petersberg Russia plant. If you cannot spring for Mullard-xF2 or Amperex Holland-fxF3/4 (my personal fav), these are the next best sonic flavor of EL34. Even you you wanted to buy those lovely NOS EL34, you will not find true NOS (unused) that are truly current-matched tested quads. These SED are the next best thing, comparable in sonics to xF2-Mullard. NOTE: testing power tubes on a standard tube tester at 200V-250V is next to useless, I've found. Only a Maximatcher--or measuring current draw in a fixed bias amp will return reliable data. The sonic flavor of the POWER tubes ARE IN FACT dominant in defining the final sonics of an amp. As a sort of 'proof', the tetrode/pentode power tubes (e.g., 6L6-G/GA/GB/GC; KT66/77; 5881; 6AR6; EL34; KT88/6550) are what defines the sound of an amp, even though the amps may all have the same preamp tubes! Yes, the circuit matters, but based on the logic here, it is the power tube that defines the sound of any amp, and thus, the entire system. It seems illogical to skimp on the final common denominator of a system, which is why I've amassed a nice power tube collection. I'll post pictures and data upon true interest via a PM from registered AA users with a valid moniker who provide their full name and AA (or Agon/Ebay/AM) username, but must ignore anonymous folks. I have other fine tubes available, esp Siemens true old Siemens E88CC and E188CC. Ever hear a true NOS, triode-matched, NIB, meter-banging old Siemens 7308/E188CC? Their sound is unique! Or, how about Sylvania Gold Brand gold-pin 5751 or the TMBP versions? Yums. Thanks.
