FOR SALE: An extremely rare Denon DP-6700 turntable set-up consisting of the then-current small broadcast motor, the DP-6000 (also effectively the top of the line consumer motor until 1978 when the DP-80 was introduced), in the DK-200 leather-covered plinth (the top plinth) with the DA-307 arm, and original dustcover. The motor controller was one of the first to use a magnetic strip under the platter to send a signal to a quartz-controlled Phase-Locked-Loop circuit to control speed. Pulse-modulated motor regulation on superb AC motor. It is super speed-accurate and very quiet.

Completely original: original arm, phono cord, motor, plinth, dustcover, Denon mini-clamp which serves as an 45 adapter, etc.

This deck is one of the rare 1970s decks which could compete into the 1980s. It is super quiet but it definitely has the 1970s look to it. It matches my long fur coat and platform boots very well.

PRICE: $990 Priced to sell quickly! The last one on Audiogon went for $1295 with a Cardas rewire and DL-103D cart. This one will include a Denon DL-103 with a few hundred hours on it and in fine working condition for $10 extra.

WORKING CONDITION: Excellent working condition in both 33 and 45. I listened to it a while ago, but not recently. Because of that, I have run it the past 12 hours. It is 100V 50/60Hz (frequency switch below the platter). The magnetic strip under the platter is fine. The strobe stands perfectly still in both 33 and 45 on 'speed-lock', and where variable speed is chosen, the pitch control can make it stop rock-steady as well.

COSMETIC CONDITION: The two aspects which show use are 1) the black base under the leather plinth part, which has some paint off, and 2) the metal Denon logo sticker which has lost some black paint. Both of these are easily restorable to the next buyer. I can do so but I have deliberately left it to the next buyer to do it the way they wish. The aluminum edges show some sign of use, as does the motor bezel in some small places, but nothing which is visible from more than about a foot away. The leather is in fine condition. There are the standard 'slight scratches on acrylic' on the dustcover, but nothing which stands out, no cracks, no visible damage. There is some light corrosion on the dustcover hinge mount on the back of the plinth. The mat is original, shiny where it should be, soft where it should be. The mini-'clamp' has lost its Denon label in the center. The arm and headshell are in excellent condition.

OTHER: This TT is 100V and 50/60Hz. Power consumption is on the order of 10W I expect so a 100W step-down transformer should work fine (I can supply one for US, European or Asian usage for ~$40, depending on region/power capacity).

SHIPPING: This TT weighs about 17kg by itself. Packing materials should come in about 3.5-6kg depending on whether it makes it into a single box. By EMS to the US (3-4 days), it will cost roughly JPY 25-27,500 including insurance. By SAL (8-14 days), it would cost JPY 21,000 (~$235) including insurance. By surface, it would cost 11,000 yen (~$122) and take 4-8 weeks.

PAYMENT: Payment possible by following methodology/currency: 1) Paypal (in yen, at then-current dollar/yen mid-rate) plus 4%, 2) wire transfer in yen or USD (can arrange euros), 3) postal money order in USD, 4) Moneygram (USD) 5) personal check (USD, takes ~2wks to clear)

Questions welcome by email, and I can call to discuss as well (though keep in mind I am on E.S.T +13hrs). Higher-res pics available on request.

This is Japanese DD table #8 of many to come.
