Here is my personal 6100 that I have had for a couple years and have been modding throughout that time. I really got things tweaked perfectly and now its time to sell because I have 2 other turntable projects waiting on me….

Generally speaking, a stock 6100 is not a top end table, but this one is far beyond stock. The mods I made are: − New correct belt. − Complete cleaning, including belt contact surfaces. − All original tonearm wiring continuity/grounding tested and inspected for insulation wear (no problems were found). − Significant vibrational damping of subplatter, motor, plinth and base using Dynamat material. − Vibrational damping of the platter itself. − Deep cleaning and relube of the tonearm and bearings. − Removed the spindle, thoroughly cleaned and relubed with high quality Teflon-bearing gun oil. − Replaced motor with a newer one removed from another 6100. All rubber grommets were inspected, uncracked, pliant and are excellent. − Removed ungrounded captive power cord, replaced with an IEC plug so you can use your own power cord and the ground lug is connected to the chassis. I am not necessarily saying that a new power cord is really an improvement, but I like the ease of handling the table without the cord being attached. Plus there is the benefit of the ground. − 99.9% pure silver wire used for grounding the motor frame. − Original captive interconnect removed and replaced with handmade interconnects constructed with solid copper twisted pair configuration, Teflon insulated, shielded, terminated with Goertz style rhodium-over-silver RCA connectors with 4% silver solder. Nice black Techflex exterior sleeve for professional finish. No separate tonearm grounding wire is needed as the signal grounding is achieved via the interconnects. − New high quality Panasonic 0.1uf film cap between signal ground and chassis ground for increased noise/hum reduction. − New terminal strip for connecting tonearm wiring to output wiring. 4% silver solder used.

Finally, what could be the coolest thing of all – I added shielding around the terminal strip where the tonearm wires connect to the output wires. This added shielding is made of Mu-metal sheeting I originally removed from an old oscilloscope. I soldered the various corner joints, then soldered it to ground using 4% silver solder, then added Dynamat-style vibrational damping material to it.

So put it all together and what do you get? First off, NO HUM – NO NOISE. The table is very quiet running through my Accuphase pre, Aleph amp and MartinLogans. It remained almost 100% silent with the volume turned up past 75% and the phono stage gain set at max. Although not tested with a strobe, speed seems very consistent.

The cosmetics are pretty good – no major dings, scratches, etc. The badge is in excellent condition, all silk screen lettering is perfect, including on the headshell. THE ONLY ISSUE is that the cueing piston is dry and is not damped right now. That means that the cue lever lowers the arm at the same speed that you move the lever. So you can either get the piston oil refilled or simply lower the cueing lever SLOWLY as I have been doing.

The TT has the original 45 adapter, aluminum headshell and anti-skate counterweight with what I believe is the original black monofilament. Also included: several additional parts from another 6100 – older motor, disassembled tonearm, counterweight, rest/clip, tonearm wiring, platter, spindle, cueing arm lift, mat, and AudioTechnica record clamp. Finally, I have a laminated cartridge alignment protector that I will throw in.

What I DON’T have is a dust cover or hinges. Plus, you will need to provide your own power cord, but that is easy since it takes a standard IEC plug.

This will be packed very well if shipment is required, so don't be concerned that I will just throw it in a box with a couple handfuls of peanuts. Local ATL pick up/cash okay too.

Pics will be posted in a couple days. If there is a specific pic you want, please let me know and I will take it. Feel free to ask any questions. Thanks.
