Acoustic Research AmplifierI’ve decided to go in a different direction, so I’m selling my AR Amplifier. The matching Tuner is also for sale in another listing.
As well as a pair of completely rebuilt AR 2ax Speakers, which will be listed later. After lusting after these since adolescence, I purchased the Tuner and Amp last year, from the original owner. They both come with the original wood cases. Here’s the information on the Amp. Other than some scratchiness in the Normal / Monitor switch, it works fine. I never hooked up a turntable, but I have no reason to doubt that it operates as intended. When I purchased it, there was an intermittent problem. I shipped it to the AR specialist near Albany to be fixed. I’m pretty sure that it was just a loose wire. He said that internally it was one of the cleanest units that he has seen.
Cosmetically it shows some very minor wear on the faceplate, and some minor wear on the wood case.
A little wood restorer would hide the wood scratches. Take a look at the photos, and give me a shout. I’ll be glad to elaborate and send you additional photos.
Rated a 7+, solely due to age. I was running this complete AR system, and it sounded fantastic. I am asking $275.00 firm, for the Amp. Shipping via UPS is additional. It will be extremely carefully packaged and fully insured. My best estimate for shipping would be $25.00. Paypal included. If you purchase both the Tuner and Amplifier, the pair would be $500.00, plus shipping. I will absorb all Paypal fees. This is substantially less than I happily paid, and I feel that is a reasonable and fair price in today’s economy.
