The chassis was used for previous iterations of this combination, but more recently upgraded. Chassis is in 17w x 16d x 4.5 tall. It weighs 17 pounds. It has a relatively new 4mm black anodized aluminum faceplate from FrontPanel Express. Front panel controls are: Line/DAC, volume, Line input selector, mute. The power transformer is a Lundahl LL 1683, The Mark III (up to date output board) active output board supplies both the voltage output of the DAC and also for the line outs. A minimally reactive power supply from Raleigh audio supplies the Active output board. Input transformers for
line inputs are LL1676 amorphous core. Output transformers are LL1674 amorphous core. Tubes are 6N6P. Output resistance is 350 ohms.
Gain is 7dB or 13 dB, switch adjustable. Volume control is the proper K&K stepped shunt attenuator. The DAC is the RAKK DAC Mk II with two input options. The board has two 1572 digital transformers, so both inputs could be used. Presently
it is only set for XLR AES-EBU input. The chipset is TI PCM 1794 with asynchronous conversion to 24/192 by TI SPC 4192. The DAC board requires clean 12 VDC, which is supplied by a K&K MkIII supply using an LT3080 regulator, Black Gate and 4-pole Jensen capacitors. There is a relay controlled switch for DAC vs. Line input on the front panel. A Seiden switch is used to select the line input from 2 rca or 2 xlr inputs. Preamp outputs are two pair of xlr outputs or one pair of rca outputs. So, you are getting a fully balanced differential preamplifier with a 24/192 upsampling DAC. It is fully galvanically isolated on all inputs to reduce any ground loops. The sound of the line stage and DAC are both extremely dynamic, with sweet highs and strong bass. I am extremely sensitive to distortion, and this preamp and DAC allowed my to listen for hours without fatigue. I am selling as I now have a K&K/Raleigh preamp/dac that matches my K&K extreme phono stage. This unit will require some occasional checks of the CCS outputs. so you should be comfortable around high voltage and have a good multimeter. I will ship in a nicely padded box protecting the preamp. Tubes will be out of their sockets, requiring you to seat them before you fire up the preamp.
