For Sale are my pair of Adcom GFA 565 MonoBlock amplifiers with the "Elite Custom modifications" (currently called the LX-Mini-Platinum mod) by John Hillig of Musical Concepts/Musical Design (check out his website if you don't know who he is). The original design is by Nelson Pass. You will not find a pair of 565 amps for sale anywhere in the country in as fine condition as these--excellent to borderline mint. Immensely powerful (300 w/ch @ 8 ohms; 450w @ 4 ohms; 850w @ 2 ohms) these amplifiers with the modifications are far better sounding than the originals. Included in the modifications were new high quality electrolytic capacitors (to take care of the "leakage" issue that plagued some of these amps), premium Hiperfred rectifiers, larger, high quality bypass caps, new coupling caps, feed back loop modifications, new cap in the Zobel network, Dale resistors to replace the cheap originals, better bypass caps in the power supply, feedback loop and bias circuit, TakmanCF resistors in critical locations, cardas RCA jacks, and two pairs (on each amp) of Cardas copper binding posts. The original amps could sound bright with an edge in the upper mid-range and treble. That is gone. These amps are smooth, with tremendous stereo separation, terrific bass, and an extremely wide sound stage. They have been my favorite, large, solid-state, monoblock amplifiers. I've moved on to Carver Cherry 180 tube monoblocks so these are now for sale.These amps were never stacked except to take the photos for this ad. They were always placed along side each other on amp stands in front of my equipment rack. The amps were $1700 when new, the modifications were $900 in 2011 when I had Hillig do the work and are $1100 today. They are yours for $1600 plus the 3% Paypal fee. At that price, I will pay the shipping and insurance charges (around $100 - 125, two heavy boxes). A pair of power cords is included.
