For sale is the last of my First Watt clone builds. I have built over 10 different First Watt amps, and the Aleph J is the best, to my ears.Rated 7/10 for DIY, but the chassis is without scratches or dings. This one is special in that it uses boards that allow the use of the Toshiba 2SJ109 dual JFET originally called out by Nelson Pass for these amps, instead of a pair of 2SJ74 jfets in the front end of the amp. This was my last matching pair of these beauties. It has the standard First Pass power supply with plenty of capacitance and a 300VA Antek transformer. The chassis is the Deluxe 4U Aluminum chassis from HiFi 2000 in Italy. 10mm silver aluminum faceplate with blue status LED. Neutrik XLR and gold plated rca sockets are used. Gold plated Cardas CGSP shorting plugs go into pin 2 and 3 of the xlr jack when you are using the rca jacks to allow for proper gain when driving the amp single ended. Rear mounted on/off switch and accessible fuse holder are included and provide a nice short path for AC to prevent hum in the ampl This amp is dead quiet on 95 db speakers either running balanced or single ended. It runs hot, as expected for a Class A amp, about 55 degrees C on the heatsinks. See all the reviews out there on the sound the Aleph J produces. They are much better than me at giving you that side of things.
