JOULE-ELECTRA HEAVENS GATE 70W 6C33 Class A Tube MonoBlock amps - USED - $2,500The Joule-Electra Heavens Gate and its smaller brother the Stargates were only made for several years as a amp that offers some of the Joule OTL magic at a lesser price. What these are is basically a output transformer coupled Joule OTL. So each amp has 4, 8 and 16 ohm output taps and uses the same tube compliment one would find in a Joule OTL amp! They have adjustable feedback (control on rear panel). I have spent many hours going through these amps for their owner, and have re-tubed the front end (all small tubes are new or NOS) and replaced most of the 6C33s. The amps are good to go, but NOT perfect. There are a number of cosmetic flaws in each amp (see pics - these are 10 or more years old - probably 12, but I can not be sure) and one amp has some intermittent LOW level intermittent and random (as in noise which IF it was occurring would only be audible during very quiet music passages) - random as it can be anywhere from several to twenty minutes between occurrences. The issue is most likely (I THINK) a slightly leaky intermittent coupling cap - which can be one of a bunch in the amp. We thought it not cost effective to go after this (replacing coupling caps, even with the same new same type could make one amp sound a bit different than the other, so then you are looking at much time and money replacing lots of parts in both amps to fix a small problem). OK, enough of that - these amps do make music - REALLY good sounding music at that. They will not be for typical audionut as they will need some attention to tweaking the 6C33's bias at times (bias adjustments on these are a bit sensitive - small adjustments!) and a total of 8 6C33's ruining Class A do throw off a fair amount of heat. They where around $8,500 - $8,900 new and can be yours for $2,500. SHIPPING: We have no factory packaging for these amps. We can box to ship. Each amp weighs about 70lbs each, so when boxed you would be talking about two 80lb or so boxes plus a another box which I would use for just the 6C33s.
